What geographical areas are the most attractive to you? Consider family ties, climate, demographics of the area, urban, suburb, or rural, hobbies/interests, employment opportunities for your spouse, quality of school system, and cost of living,
What is your area of expertise, or ideal practice setting? For example, anesthesiologists may prefer pain, cardiac, or outpatient surgical center, etc.
Consider compensation requirements? Remember the total package includes years to partnership, guaranteed base salary, malpractice insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation/CME days, etc.
